Please discuss the hide feature -only- in this thread. Keep it factual.

I think that constructive criticism is very important, it's helping the forum to evolve and improve. Please keep telling your opinion on it, everyone! In order to keep the overview over the discussion which was taking place on multiple threads, I created this single thread as a central discussion place for the topic.

I'm always listening to what the members say about the features of this forum. The hide feature definately is a polarizing feature which has pros and cons. If you are annoyed by this feature, please think of the following:

It is increasing the motivation of thread starters which leads to more threads and more content for everyone here!

If you do absolutely not appreciate the content of a hidden post, you may undo your thanks afterwards - please be fair with your judgement though.

However, I will keep an eye on the feature to make sure that it's not abused by anyone. Perhaps we can also make some adaptions on it in future to improve its acceptance. I like the idea of "see thumbnails before, get links after", that was proposed by a member for example.

If you have anything to say on this topic, please express your opinion in this thread only.

thanks felix for listening too me on this,i found it a hard that i general chat people can not have their say on this subject having one mod saying too cool down on something very hot closeing that thread too haveing the next mod open it say something and closeing it again,this is a hot subject here and it does need too be talked about because people are thinking they are forced too reply too threads,wrong you do not have too reply too see a thread or say thanks, all 10% of posters are saying is we are putting in all the hard work here and 90% are comeing in and takeing that hard work for nothing.if we wanted too we could all go the contributors lounge and sit back and boycott all the rest and see how long is before you have the time too find your own pictures because we been here here for a long long time you will find it very hard too get your cameltoe fix

there are alot of pros..and alot of cons of this hide feature. it has caused a huge ruckus!! and it has been a long time since we have had some ruckus..and i love it!!


i say we keep the hide function..if you dont believe in it..dont use it.


also..having unclickable-thumbnail-previews should be deemed as essential.

This is a hard topic to make a decision about.

Pros

• Forces lurkers to login
• Encourages feedback
• Forces lurkers to become members
• Allows posters to feel 'thanked' for their posts
• Enforces membership by excluding users who don't want to login

Cons

• Totally pads posters 'Thanks' - is this such a bad thing?
• Makes me thank posters who don't deserve a thanks - I can remove my thanks but...
• Slows down my ability to view pron!!!

I'm still on the fence as to a firm decision on this feature. As a poster and a viewer of the site, I can understand the purpose of this feature, but I still don't 100% enjoy it.

How do all of the Moderators feel about it?

That is everyone it's own thing to use the hide feature, and it's everyone it's own thing to press the thx button or write a comment. I will no one coerce to view my pics. Do it or not. We are a FORUM and not a FREE picture newsletter, so i think, members must be a active part. 1000 of members are only have a account to see all the pics. We active members have all the hard work and show all the cameltoe-pictures from the world wide web or our private shots here for free. And the Lurkers have nothing better to do than posting they enraged shit about ONE!!!!! click to see the pictures in some hidden posts and show a lil regard with that lil thanks.
To tell the opinion about a post, they can write a reply or use the real power of the reputation-system. The lil thx isn't real showing if a post good or bad. In my eyes it's only a lil regard to the posters WORK.

I tried it, and I don't like it at all.

It leads to ancient threads being bumped forever. "Get new posts" is almost useless at this point. So what if newbies are replying when 99.9% of their replies are crap. "#!&^!" is a pretty useless reply.

If we want to force more newbies to contribute, then making the contributors lounge harder to get into and getting lounge members to post there is an incentive for newbs. I will only post pics in the contributor's lounge for now on.

I wrote it in another thread already, but why not put the hide feature up for a week long vote?

this could be the answer..we should start utilizing the contributors lounge to is maximum potential. maybe the mega threads should be moved into a sub section of the contributors lounge..?? maybe access to the lounge should be more of a challenge to get into?
